Leandro Barbosa scored a career-high 39 points and the Phoenix Suns beat the Orlando Magic 106-96 Saturday night, withstanding a 33-point, 18-rebound effort by Dwight Howard.
Grant Hill had 14 points and eight rebounds in his Orlando return, but couldn’t quiet a hostile crowd soured on him since he signed with Phoenix. Hill was booed all night, an unusual experience for the popular All-Star who spent seven years in Orlando but missed two-thirds of the games with several ankle injuries.
Hill came out decidedly on top as the Suns blitzed Orlando with 22 fast-break points and 12-of-29 3-point shooting, ending the Magic’s four-game winning streak. Read more
Five games is such a small sampling to jump to talk-radio-type conclusions about a player.
I was shocked when I heard Greg Moore suggest Phoenix guard Steve Nash might be washed up just because he had a high number of turnovers in five games.
Nash is averaging 4.5 turnovers per game in this young season. Only four players are averaging more turnovers, including Kobe Bryant. Nobody is saying Bryant is washed up as a player.
Nash remains one of the premier point guards in the NBA and will lead the Suns to an NBA title this season. Read more
